Blogger's Quilt Festival October 2010

Welcome fellow Blogger's Quilt Festival visitors.  How great is this online quilt festival organised by Amy.  THANK YOU AMY!
Now to the nitty gritty.  This quilt is called Tropical Bliss and was finished in April 2005.  It is 99 per cent Amy Butler.  The fabrics are from her Ginger Bliss, Temple Flowers, and Gypsy Caravan ranges.  It has cotton batting and was machine quilted in an allover design.  Its queen size.  The pattern is from Altogether Patchwork and called 'Spring Floral Quilt'.  I simply added an extra round of squares to make it bigger.  I just love these fabrics and this was the first time I made a quilt nearly completely from one designers fabrics.  Did I say I love these fabrics.  This was a quilt made based on the logic of  'because I just have to have some of those fabrics and they look so pretty'.
I hope you have time to enjoy all the other wonderful quilts in the festival.

What a lovely quilt you have made. I like the soft colors of the Amy Butler fabrics. I've often wondered how it might look to mix different lines from the same designer. And now, after seeing your quilt I know it works very well.

I like your logic, Karen, and I sure hope you kept this quilt for yourself. As quilters it seems a lot of what we make is for the joy of giving, and we need to remember to give to ourselves, too. This is such a sweet, delicate, feminine quilt. Such lovely fabrics!

The colors are truly lovely- there is a real subtle-ness about it but oh so elegant. I have never made a quilt using just one line of fabrics either. I love your profile statement- I too am too scared to figure out how much fabric is in my stash.
I also liked seeing your quilt blocks up close- the details show the beauty of each block.
Thanks for sharing.
Enjoy the festival- there are many wonderful quilts to view.
