Charlotte's Quilt

It all started with the news that my husband's cousin was expecting their first baby.  As I had made his other cousins a quilt for their babies I thought it was only fair that this new baby in the family have one of my quilts.  At this stage I didn't know if it was going to be a boy or girl. I started pretty early knowing my production rate is pretty slow.

I got my pattern inspiration from Jeni Baker's Nordika Polar Vortex Quilt.  As soon as I saw the tutorial I knew it would be perfect for a unisex baby quilt.

For my fabric inspiration I had seen some gorgeous solid packs that Randi from Fresh-Squeezed Fabrics had in her shop and thought they would do the job beautifully for a non-gender specific quilt.
The backing fabric is a wonderful Art Gallery print.

The wonderful Jeannette from The Quilting Platypus quilted it for me. The batting is cotton. The quilt finishes around 54 inches square.

I am very happy to report that it was very much appreciated.  The mum-to-be preferred the back and the dad-to-be liked the patchwork front. And as the blog post title gives away they had a beautiful baby girl.
